I have just had a call as well and was told it's to do with the heat around the muffler. He said it hasn't actually come from the UK, it's a complaint that has been lodged abroad. To be honest, I can't say I really notice any more heat with it than I do with the 360tes or my older 280tes

Yes, apparently if debris gets lodge around the muffler it creates a potential fire risk.

I guess this must have happened to someone but surely it's a one in a million chance!

I would imagine that applies to various saws.

The guy I spoke to suspects it's just one case and they are just jumping on it as a safety risk. I personally can't really see it being a problem as I clean my saws regularly anyway but as said above, that probably applies to all saws, I have certainly seen smoke coming from my 550xp muffler when it's buried in a cut

Pretty much official. All Echo 2510s are to be recalled.

If you own one you will get a confirmation from the dealer you bought it off to stop using it. They will then be recalled.

Echo are offering all either:

  • Full refund

OR

  • You get a brand new CS280TES for the next few months free until the 2511TES is available (around Oct/Nov)
  • When the new 2511TES comes out you can either buy your CS280TES for £99-00+vat or just return it - either way you get the 2511TES

FFS there was a couple of cases of the CS360 TES catching fire due to the zorst melting the plastic cover. I melted 2 or 3 covers and they offered me a refund. I declined. Simply remove the catalyst from the zorst and problem solved. Cud do the same with the 2510 I guess.

That's not a bad deal if can get the extra saw for that money. Not sure I want to give it up though 😤

Will the stihl carving bar fit the courtesy saw?

Yes as I had one fitted to mine but it's not a patch on the 2510 sadly :(
