I think the max on the 550 xp is a lot higher than 10,200…that is under load RPM and not "free maximum"

Your 13,800 is "free Max" on the Dolmar i believe.

All is good as there designed for those revs :001_smile:

Yes your right there sawchip 13,800 free max speed

max power under load on the 5105 is achieved at 10,000rpm :thumbup:

Oh jeesh! I fear you are right!!.... the Husky 550xp is maximum 14,000rpm according to this: Stuart Brown Landscape and Arborist Supplies - Husqvarna 550 XP

Thanks for putting me right on that :thumbup1:

cheers, steve

So many numbers ! so many ways of selling a saw to us on statistics !!

Honestly …don't bother a jot about the rpm's …as long as the saw is working within permitters , the saw is able to cool itself and your mix is good then your safe. The Legendary Husqvarna 242 xp free revved to 15500 rpm 25 od yrs ago .

Thanks for the reply, How long have you had them? any issues at all with them?

Had the 550 about a year and apart from a brake band it's been fine.

The 560 is a few weeks old and cut an acre so far. Great having the heated handles.

I have found not to let them run dry or can be a bitch to start and let them warm up a little each day.

pic for ian

mmm very tempting, I will definately be getting the heated handle version if i go for one though!

What 2 stroke oil to you use for husqvarnas? Do you have to use their own brand or would the stihl green stuff be ok? (At the moment i only run stihls)

I take it they have outboard clutch's and run .325 chain?
