Homemade log processor saw issues

Does anyone know who sells 6 way splitting axes for 30 tonne machines? JASP Wilson price for a posch one is £550. Is that the going rate? The 6 way axe we have made with hardox and LOTS of weld isn't holding. We know how to strengthen it but means re building it so might be easier buying one.

can anyone put me in touch with someone that's made a hydraulic chainsaw before by attaching a hydraulic motor to a petrol saw etc.

I seriously doubt that anyone has done it that way, its would complicate things way too much when its much simpler to simply fit a rim sprocket to the output shaft of a suitable hydraulic motor.

I think you need to be looking at the chain speed with this sort of thing, Slapping a sprocket on the end of a hydraulic motor is all well and good but will the chain speed match that of a 9000rpm + chainsaw engine? Have a good look at oversized sprockets if you want to go down this route.

I thought this one looked like he had taken a petrol saw, removed the engine etc and bolted a motor on the side?

There isn't much chainsaw about that, its a side cover.

They have used that as an easy way to keep the chain tensioner.

You can do the same thing with bolts and washers

Your probably right, has anyone any experience building a hydraulic saw from scratch?

Mechanically its pretty simple, a hydraulic motor driving a ring sprocket and some method of clamping the guide bar

The trick part will be getting the pressure and flow matched to the torque requirements.
