Best Hedge?

What is the best plant or combination of plants to use for a hedge? Ideally it will be a relatively fast growing plant kept at about 9' high eventually. Since its going to be a long hedge, cost is also a factor

For us, that is. Best tree there is to send profit our way.

 

For trees, I like Hornbeam. For shrubs, whatever fits the space. Yew, Camellia, Viburnum are a few favorites.

Laurel, you can leave it for a few years and hack it back if needs be.

Personal taste is a factor of course.

Depends what you need a hedge for? Is it Just a screen? Will it need to provide winter cover? Wind block etc
