The Defender wave....

Does anyone else who owns a Defender experience having to put your hand up to every passing Defender? If its a jolly driver or they catch me in a good mood I somethimes wave..

Why do I get waved at? Is it just what Defender drivers do? When I drive my Fiesta I try putting my hand up to fellow Fiesta drivers but I never get a hand back!!

Does the wave happen to anyone else?

Would be interesting to know...

Hi MATE That's standard practice my father-in-law who has a Toyota says it's because Land Rover is break down all the time you have to be friendly to others who got them so they will pull you one day when you break down thanks John

I remember years back Fred Dibna driving down Manchester Rd in Bolton, stuck his hand out the cab of his scruffy looking landrover and gave me the thumbs up..

Couldn't put my finger on it seeing as I didn't have a landrover at the time.

Then it dawned on me, I had a beaten up Toyota Hilux with offroad wheels on it, lifted suspension..

Then again, it could of been one scruffy f'er saluting another LOL...

You get it in all niche vehicles.

On a motorbike, i nod other bikers.

In a mini i waved at other minis.

Now, in my mk1 caddy I greet any old V'Dubs (except most beetles, campers, and transporters - pretentious, arrogant bum holes. The "your VW isn't as prestigious as mine, now move along so I can continue to show off my weekend toy" brigade )

I used to hate it, a feeling of dread when I saw one coming the other way, would they wave? I would feel obliged to wave back. Then feel all dirty inside.

The worst would be if I thought they were going to wave and waved to them and they didn't wave back. Sold it in the end, couldn't take the stress.
