I drove past it last week while taking a detour through the Cairngorms for a change from the A9.  It is something else; as Julian says it's surreal.

And the detour was so worth it; what a drive up to Glenshee, Lecht and then back to Inverness via Tomintoul.

Stopping for a panini and coffee along the way of course

I probably passed you. I was based in Tomintoul all week surveying trees on the Crown Estate, which ends at the Lecht. Best survey ever. I ran out of petrol at Braemar onthe way home, the petrol station had shut minutes before. Only had enough to get to Ballater, wouldn;'t have made it to Blairgowrie over Glenshee. So I went over the Cairngorms on the Aboyne to Fettercairn road, what a roller coaster that road is! The stretch from Crathie to Lecht is pretty mental too. I saw a couple of broken cyclists along the wayside.

A good part of the reason for diverting was to experience the Tarmachan Cafe in Crathie;  it's highly recommended by my daughter who was there a month ago touring with a couple of girlfriends.

I was there on Tuesday of last week.  Guess which day the cafe closes along with Sunday  🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Stunning part of Scotland. I used to go to Crathie School.

I took the wrong rd years ago trying to find that hedge with a car load of kids, I had to try and pretend a big conifer hedge outside someone house was the biggest in the world!  4 under 10 year olds were not impressed [emoji23]

I’ve recently coined a phrase for disappointing spectacles, Cumbrian Tourist Attractions. They’ll slap up a sign and tourist map for anything over there. The Hanging Walls of Mark Anthony is a prime example.
