Wages fair pay

Hi, I'm on PAYE for a company in the South East (Kent)and cutting a long story short I provide my own Ppe and most of the climbing gear we use day to day for tree work. I've been climbing for 4 years the first being as an apprentice and 3 qualified. I have always been the lead climber and never once refused a tree. I have cs 30 31 38 39 first aid+F and a trailer licence. I'm fairly un educated as to fair wages as I don't know overheads etc but just wanted an idea on what I could be asking for in wages for a 9-10 hour day. THANKS IN ADVANCE

if yr on the books every thing you need to do yr job should be provided by the enployer ,tools,ppe etc

Technically thats correct on the PPE front so if your providing most of your kit you should be on a slightly higher rate to cover the cost. If you play the "your my employer, you provide it" card then expect a slightly lower rate.

 

If your employer hasnt offered to provide PPE then hes not really on the ball from an H&S/litigation point of veiw and is leaving himself a touch exposed if things go wrong!!

You will be lucky to get 10 hour days at the end of the month when the clocks go back,so might be better to take an average,november to march say 7 hour day and rest of year 9 hours, im talking about actual working hours not travelling , hope this helps

There is no "technically" about it, anyone "cards in" is entitled to any PPE that's required.

 

There is no card to be played only a legal duty to be followed.

 

Any employer could simply claim a rate of pay reflected an enhanced rate, how would an employee prove otherwise, your rate of pay has nothing to do with the provision of PPE.

Given the recent ruling for care workers travel time and the pending EU decision on mobile working, the arb industry may well get some clarification on this. See Mobile workers' first and last journeys count as working time | Personnel Today

 

Will this change many peoples arrangements? Good or bad?
