An issue to consider is the tow weight. I have an ifor tt85 with high sides and it'll only hold 5 & 1/2 cubes before you are over payload, over towing and over train weight.

I think a high cube tipping trailer is a great idea and a worthy addition even if you do get a transit at a later date. The trailer ( license permitting ) behind a 4x4 will have a larger legal carrying capacity than a transit.

You'll still have to take another trip to take the chipper to the job.

A decent tipping trailer costs as much as a 3.5 tonne truck.

This thread has got me thinking about a tipping trailer. Still be able to carry a tractor/grinder but can keep chipping when the transit is off tipping.

What are you towing with?

Is an alternative having a small van I.e a caddy or connect and letting the pick up pull the tipper trailer and then the small van also usable for pricing etc for pulling the chipper?

Over the years I have built up a good amount of customers who will buy direct from site ie ...an 8ft x 4 ft trailer of whatever we are cutting is £ x . Obviously depending on wood type . The wood is as it comes ...( if i can lift it ..you can ) . The top quality wood Beech, Ash, Oak, Birch and so on will go to the yard for firewood . I only do this so my yard isn't full of second rate firewood and it clears the site quickly .

They come and load up there own trailers then pay up . There happy so am I .

Very surprising once I've sent a text out to them how quick they arrive .

They save me fuel and labour and buy my second rate timber

Hope this helps ? Trailer is more versatile if your tip site is suitable .
