My local will only allow 2 jerry cans unless they cant see them, so I fill them in the back of Transit away from view.

This is the answer. Go to busy station with many pumps in rush hour. Position van to obscure attendants view, fill away furtively, chuckling like a Bond Villain

:heeeelllllooooo:

Yes that's right, my truck is marked up that I am a tree surgeon, it carries a diamond flammable sticker (as we all should) all petrol is stored and carried correctly. So why refuse me? All I am doing is trying like all of us, is make a living just like Morrisons. Not to much to ask, is it?

Hi IAN do worry Ian how MORRISONS going on there will be no MORRISONS left soon as Andrew use small independent local garage all the best Ian see you soon at the show at Longleat Jon 👍

True, but I think the original post was more about him being told it was against the law to do it.

Yeah I get that but what it boils down to is a refusal to sell. Its a moot point why they wont sell. If they say no, explaining to the jobsworth why he is wrong isn't going to help, just buy the fuel elsewhere

I had a lot of the BS when I filled two jerrycans with diesel at our local ASDA a few years back. The woman on the till was jabbering on that I couldn't fill that many cans, I was breaking the law, it was illegal, etc etc.

I politely pointed out that (a) even if it had been petrol it was legal for transport even if not storage, (b) diesel is not a spirit an is therefore not covered at all by the petroleum spirit regulations she was incorrectly quoting, and © it is legal to anyone to carry up to 1000 litres of diesel in a road vehicle (in cans if so wished) without a transport licence.

She wouldn't have any of it ("I don't make the law" etc, well, she didn't even know the law!) , and although I used to buy around £150 of fuel there each week for getting on for ten years before this exchange I haven't been back since. Their loss, not mine.

Sorry, didn't mean to tread on your sensibilities, will you let me know when I can post again?

Treequip, I get the same nonsense from this chap. Seems to think he's the arbitrator of what should be posted, I find it easier to just skip his posts and move onto the ones that actually contribute something :)
