Neighbours pruned my tree

Why are they cutting the branches? Is it because they don't like the tree or you or because they think there's more chance that a plant/s will thrive given more light. You could throw some Columbine seeds over their garden. Nice delicate flowers on long stems, 10" spread, approx. 8" high; and like poppies, once they have one, they'll have many more. Unlike poppies, the roots of columbine go down some 8-10". They're a bugger to get rid of unless you catch them early and could easily swamp their garden in 2-3yrs.
