I agree Eggs, just can't understand why anyone should be petty, jealous and resentful of someone like JK.

Millions of people worldwide, including bin men and the like, have given some of their hard earned wages to read her book or watch her film. No one was forced to, and nobody objected. Those people, just like you and me. have made her rich without making ourselves poorer. So why be jealous?

Presumably Matelot has never watched any films or read any books for enjoyment for fear of making the author rich.

Come on, when so many people in the UK are struggling financially it's hard not to make a moral judgement on someone with so much money that they would struggle to spend the money in a hundred lifetimes...

and this statement is the essence of the problem. If we direct our anger and frustrations at the ones who cause those stresses and angers and frustrations (rather than at our own kind, in this case JK)

Strange thing though, I gave freely to make JK rich, but I have no choice in giving my tax to fund benefits for those struggling financially.

Don't get me wrong, I believe support for the lower paid is important, but I find it hard not to make a moral judgement on the minority who take the benefits and abuse the system.

Moral judgements work both ways. I am still in favour of JK and others like her. And another plus for JK is that she still lives in the UK.

Haha I doubt that!

Probably just the cynic in me, but I couldn't help notice that an inventor who sells a product (Easy Lift Guy) is all for capitalism and shuns socialism.

Either way it was meant in a light hearted manner :)

Joe, my family emigrated from Eastern Europe in the early 20th century to excape the early stages of Socialism and all its horrible consequences. They had a choice they took a chance and left for a better life under capaltism.

They made a better life for my 6 Uncles and 1 Aunt that they would have never known or lived in Eastern Europe. My 1st and 2nd cousins did not have the chance and lived under two dictatorships for 60 years. I have a really keen appreciation of what my family lived through and under during this period of time under a socialist governments. I am all for capatilism because it is based on being self sufficient and a really strong desire to make a better life for ones self and family and society. Perhaps your definition of socialism is different than mine, however I suspect you could not surrive and endure and ultimately achieved what my family has, especially in the last 25 short years:thumbup1:

FYI, I have visited my family twice in my life time once when the last dictatorship was voted out of office and the last time last year. Personally I could not be more proud of what they have been able to accomplish and achieve as a people and a country.

I share your concerns about paying tax for the workshy...

For me I understand the arguments why JK should be so rich, but emotionally I just think it's wrong that someone should have so much for writing children's books.. Other people have made a bigger contribution to mankind and not made as much.

The films are brilliant. But it seems she is getting a mighty big slice of cake while other people are getting tiny slivers.

You live in a society where you can be anything you want to be.Picking on the successful is to often a way of excusing ones own shortcomings.

The safe way to do the Hedge was with the correct Traffic management in place, this caused some disruption. If the correct procedures where not in place and the company was fined, the tabloids and yourself would be crying blue murder and exploitation of the working class by the rich.

I suggest working that little bit harder and that little bit smarter, concentrating on building your own success to distribute your own new wealth amongst your own employees.
