If you think much lower you'll soon be out of business!

I mugged myself off when I first started, didn't do no good::001_rolleyes: it worked out in the end mind.

I see it on here 'subbys' working for £120/day supplying all their own gear and truck........ It won't last long!

Now I work on the grounds of, if you want my services you are going to pay for them, if not I'll kick about at home doing as I please.

yep thats the long and short of it, too long in the tooth and too darn good at what i do to compete with young guns with all the gear and no idea!

I've had messages (some make my heart bleed) from members on here telling me that they can't find 'Good' subbys............ Let me tell them why they can't find 'Good' subbys............ They don't want to pay 'Good' money!

Ya get what ya pay for!

That's the equivalent of £250 here.

On average £150 is what a decent subbie climber tends to charge round here. There are some who will work for as low as £100, who I can only assume are supported elsewhere.

Your rate sounds like what freelance climbers should be aiming for over here. I think the problem is that the climbing industry is saturated, and more and more newly qualified "climbers" get churned out, which drives the price down.

And therein lies the rub, in fairness it only takes a year to so with a firm for a guy (or girl) to achieve reasonable competence. Throw in all the new climbing and rigging hardware and techniques which make the job easier and safer and you attract more and more folks into it.

You won't get rich climbing trees that's for sure, you can make a living but that's about it.

You are of course 100% correct!!!:thumbup1:

However, if you have no other form of income it can be very difficult to not become desperate and work simply to survive, hopping better times will come.
