Rigging with karabiners

I like to use tape slings for lowering.

Helps me be a bit quicker.

While the groundie is lowering I can be setting up the next piece.

Cheap to buy and easy/quick to use.

 

I agree totally, I wouldn't use rope and krab if a sling was available. Which it always is except for emergencies. Big big bites get a timber hitch and an isolating half hitch.

Cheers for the replies. I'll check out the backbone, never seen one in action. I like to use slings too, one on the rope and one stuffed down my shirt, that way I can set the next one while the previous piece is being dealt with. Otherwise it's knots for me.

if you use slings the backbone is spot on, money well spent.

 

Only prob ive found is if you dont get hold of it the wait can pull it back down to the ground again. ive got a bit of pull cord on my harness to hook it to to solve the prob

That's a good thing as stops it pissing off back to the top all way up to the pully, better it stays put or go's down as it's easier to grab it again and pull up rather than having to climb unnecessarily.

Even quicker with a backbone instead of a crab, love mine as no gates to open/close or cross load, have a look at 1 of vids I did, backbone tree rigging. Sorry phone a bit broken so can't do links as crack om screen is rite where bit for doing so is.

Put a spike in the line so it hits the pulley, tie off then pull the spike out. No danger of the end running back up to the pulley.
