things like this reduction last year to me this isnt a good or finished job but customer was happy company who got this job told me where cut it said it was finished and to come down and they were happy with it

That tree is finished..just very badly. My incomplete reductions dont look like that , so I assume the company spec was just to flat top the tree ?

simple answer really...if you're not happy dont work for them again....thats your privelege as a freelancer.....as it is their privelege to have their work done how they want it done

So true. I have gone back to a job before and just given it a tickle at the weekend . All because a couple of stray branches as I know I wounldnt of slept all weekend if I hadnt .Sounds sad but worth the little extra effort .:blushing:

I'd at least try and talk them round to your way of thinking and try and have some imput on the finished article.

And if not take the money. If you dont do it someone else will. ..just dont turn up with a company logo if your worried about your handywork.

Its along time since I was able to turn down freelance work on the basis that they wanted me to do bad work, and in these times you need to take whats offered, but ultimatly the company you are workign for are making a profit out of bad tree work (not your fault) and they are doing so without paying a climber PAYE and NI etc. The customer has had the wool pulled over their eyes and the bad work continues. Its up to you if you want to carry on like that. NO ones judging, these are hard times, just don't make me have a fit by telling me they expect you to have your own insurance too! That really would be taking the wewe.

You have to remember your working to your employers standards not yours, as a freelancer you should do as employer requires but if your standards dont meet each others then maybe dont work together again. Have to say I take on a few sub contractors and I always value there opinion and if they say there not happy with the job i make sure they stay there till they are happy with the job as that is why i have them working for me, i value there experiance.

thats what i have been doing just going along with it just wondered if anyone did job till they were happy with it them selfs

yes ,thats what its all about for me any how....with out trying to big my climbing up i can pretty much get what i want done and the desired shape i want with out any one from the ground giving there input and probably a lot faster with out it as well,in my experience it never works any how as they are looking at the tree froma completly different perspective than you ,i find the best thing is pick and follow your own line and do what you do and before taking the anchore point out ask if any thing sticks out or looks wrong....if they say no and you get out the tree and it does give the groundy a clip around the ear and make him go up or try and go up and sort the offending branch out!
