Matt did you just find it like that after getting back to the yard or did it happen on site?

Or better yet, why didn't someone spot it while is was still a crack.

 

You would expect the Council to have daily inspection records for its HGV fleet, its what the road haulage industry is required to do on a daily basis. Its also not the first time something like this has happened to this particular council.

 

As an industry tree surgery tends to forget that like it or not, we are part of road haulage. Tree surgery tends to regard the tree work as the be all and end all and often treats its vehicles as nothing more than a means to get men and saws to a tree.

 

Drive slow on those speed bumps folks

Hi Bob,

 

One of my lads who was driving the wagon heard it crack driving out of the yard.

I suspect it had a partial stress crack in one of the beams of the chassis, resulting in the catastrophic failure of the others.

The many speed humps around here have probably contributed to the failure, this is a very heavy machine however, i wouldnt have expected this to happen?
