What Tree?

I have read recent research looking into the link between ivy and host trees. I think it was saying that the relationship is one more symbiotic, rather than parasitic. As said above, ivy could compromise a weak tree. I see trees with the ivy cut, and I feel sad for the loss of habitat, and loss of an important late food source for the birdies.

Need a picture to identify the tree though. Maybe pick of a leaf from under the tree and post a pic, as well as one of the tree. Cheers

I de-ivied an ash today, and not a particularly old one, maybe 18" dbh.

The strangulation in many places was very apparent, especially at unions. Some trenches maybe 3/4" deep.

Saying ivy is only harmful to trees in decline is totally wrong IMO.
