Gransfor bruks apparently are suffering some manufacturing issues, & are a sod to deal with if you have any warranty claims. I have a Wetterling that I've had for a few years & has served me well, but if I was buying again I'd go for a Hultsfor axe the quality is good(I have a small one for bushcraft)& they are a lot cheaper.

I really can't imagine what warranty claims there possibly could be on a Gransfors axe.

We also have a Hultafors axe in the family. I bought one for my brother in law while on holiday at their summerhouse in Kvillsfors. Those Hultafors are in a complete different league. Their axe isn't as refined as the Gransfors and their Hickory shaft isn't carved up like the Gransfors and lacks the steel shaft protection right behind the head.

Any links to these problems anywhere ? Every one is individually forged and marked with the smith's stamp to show who forged it. I wish I could justify buying one.

I bust a Gransfors maul (shaft snapped just under the steel collar).

This was due to a tiny defect (unforseeable IMO) in the centre of the wood.

Replacement arrived in two days after sending a couple of pics out.

I was beating some very gnarly oak, and I'm extremely powerful.

And handsome.
