£450-£650 chainsaw. Best VFM?

Simple, a 560 will pull 18" happy, so unless you're cutting logs over 2ft wide, get a 560, the 365 is 10cc larger and pulls 24-28" happily. It uses more fuel and weighs more.

A 560 always runs at optimum, adjusts to the fuel and goes like stink! As previously mentioned, you learn to sharpen good, it'll beat a 372 in most timber!

Stihl MS201 Petrol Chainsaw

This was the MS201 is was curious about the cost of.

I think the 555 is off the menu like mussels in August, and I'm leaning away from the 560XP.

365 in standard trim is tops on my new list (thanks to you brilliant buggers!) ...

This is the best bang for my buck I can achieve, isn't it?

Hi mate 560 with a ROB D BAR ON mate far better then a husk only £25 more thanks Jon happy new year Jon

If you click on the link burgess, you'll see it's a rear handled MS201 I'm referring to.

Still at a loss as to why it's so much money..

Because it's overrated and stupidly priced, but if they sold it for a reasonable price (£200-300) people like me would convert them into top handles.

And don't go by kWh, people are easily confused, bigger saws seem to use less on paper

before you decide i will throw another into the Dolmar PS-6100 18'' or 20'' 3/8

7 or 8 pin sprocket whatever suits you simple design easy start powerful very torquey and bang in the middle of your price range

There a lot if saw for the money and no electronics to go wrong. My 5105 is a fantastic 50cc saw you also get great after sales service from shavey.

As said before its the rear handle version of the top handle climbing saw. It is pricey but is a great carving saw, I don't know why husky haven't developed a back handle version of their new topper? They have with the battery one so why not? A bit of competition may even drive the prices down.

I would gladly trial one ;-)

I assume most sales of these rear handles is from carvers, if you want a good light saw for general work you might be better going for the ms 241

550 is worth the money depending on what your using for...it and the 560 are both felling saws designed to fell and dress out timber as quickly as possible as the 365 is a heavy duty fire wood cross cutting saw that has professional pedigree but not as highly strung which looking at the description of what you want out of a saw ticks more boxes than the highly strung imo Ferrari of saws the 560.

I would also be put off the 560 as no offence you would not get the optimum out of it and like many none pro users not have an idea of how to sharpen a saw and probably rely on your dealer sharpening chains, from my experience running auto tune saws blunt makes them run like pigs , then you have to reset them... I very quickly learnt not to give them to the new guys.

201 is basically a pro saw and any badged as such costs more.

Read some of the dolmar threads as well it seems as bang per £ they seem a good choice but honestly have not used any modern ones to give an opinion but they have lots of converts and followers on here from people who are not happy with running saws with ecu's on the carbs that the majority of pro saws from stihl and husky now run.
