best way to clean ropes?

A bar of soap?

 

Nope, there is a bar of soap (posh stuff) upstairs in the bathroom, I have a small tub of swarfega under the kitchen sink but the stuff next to the washing machine (I had a look to satisfy your curiosity) is called Fairy non bio, that's soap as well you know.

I think the average washing machine is only supposed to have a load of 8kg. Assuming this is to do with its ability to spin it at 1600rpm my opinion was that a wet 45m rope would be on the heavy side. I have done it but I won't be doing it anymore.

As above, a wet climb will clean the rope. A rinse on a bin will help and obviously drying will take a while. It's handy to have two ropes.

 

Or use someone else's washer. I think the laundrette idea, rope in a pillow case is the best idea 😃
