So I have sold the chestnut bench and I just need to deliver it. I haven't coated it in anything. Would it be a good idea to put any clear wood preserver on the ends or just on the feet? wondered if that would give it any more longevity.

Minimalistic rustic chunky is what I was asked for and I hope I delivered.

Oak and stainless m20 threaded bar and nuts, simple.

I like that-mind if i borrow the idea please?

Finished look , metal frame off to be powder coated should get back Friday. Already designed legs and got materials for second one, which I might start bending tomorrow.

Ian , that figuring on the table top at one end looks like the graft union , I have had a bit like that myself years ago and it is a point of interest that takes some explaining to some people . Nicely done piece of work , and I think the metal legs work well , to be honest I can't really imagine what wooden legs would suit it !! well done

Cheers guys , it's very stable and solid the metal is 6mm x 40mm and 8mm round bar. Plus its a coffee table so not much weight will be on there, even tho I've sat/walked on it 😊 . So if it doesn't tip with my fat arse it will probably never will 😁

I'm making another one out of yew , with different legs I've designed.

It does appear to be a graft union , most unusual , was it intentional to include it , or just chance ? I like natural edge coffee tables and am currently arranging timber for such projects myself , the only thing to be aware of is they are right "shin crackers " lol Again a nice piece and well done in successfully drying that plank ... Terry ..
