I have a jonsered 630 super 2 that needs a new bar and chain.

I wanted to avoid as much expense yet trying not to skip on quality.

I saw a 21" with a 404 replaceable sprocket nose. Is this going to be too much for the saw?

What HP/ torque is ideally required to run a 404 and on what length bar?

Hi mate as Ian said but off with a 3)8 chain mate cut faster if shape thanks Jon

I use .404 from 36" up . 63" on a 395 and 42" and 50" on a 3120 .

Im with you on that one Stubby.

On my 394/395 collection up to 28" i use 3/8 but over that nothing matches .404 with stihl full chisel chain in big oak and beech etc in my opinion. Cuts quicker, blunts slower and can take a few swipes in the dirt well. :thumbup1:

That's interesting to know; had always thought of .404" as harvester fodder.

You certainly do need a saw that can pull it. Having said that, a semi chisel 404 chain can go seemingly forever bucking and stumping without losing much sharpness.
