Average day rate for tree surgery

Recommended Posts

but £81k isnt bad for a 2,man team, working on trees 3,days a wk . with low over heads & that dosnt mean having to cut corners eaither :001_smile:

You need to be well under the threshold really, trading with a turn over near to it is pretty dangerous, go one penny over and you suddenly owe the VAT man up to £16,200:001_huh:

whats the pros and cons of being vat registered?

i am only self employed, with a lower than vat limit turn over.

do i say on my own, or start to build and employe another bloke?

Vat reg you could claim vat back on all your purchases, down side is you will have to charge 20% on top of your normal fee.

You can reduce your normal fee by the % diference on what you spend and charge on vat .

So if going vat reg saves you £5k a year, divide that into your turnover, get the %, take it off your day rate then add 20% for the vat.
