Well, two ideas; I'd get them to sent their senior engineer out and make a written report of all the work that the machine needs to get it working correctly and go from there.

Alternatively I'd go with an independent engineer of similar calibre who would act on your instructions. Get the machine fixed and send them the invoice along with an offer of settlement for 30 days. Failing that I'd consult a specialist solicitor on the matter and proceed that way.

I'd be paying ALL the bills. Wait for the courts to sort it out. This way you will have a working machine and some leverage over their failure to supply a machine 'fit for purpose'.

Name and shame works too!

Used grinders low hours or not are always a risk.

There is never really a good explanation as to why they're on the market.

My advise, pay them whatever you have to.

It's a used machine, you took a bit of a gamble, it failed.

Time for a bit of pillow biting!

I would agree a bitter pill to swallow but thats life, I bought a used 4012 diesel like yours ty and had problems, it was eventually traced to a broken earth wire tucked away near the exhaust once fixed never had a problem and is s great machine.

That's just it.

On the phone the engineers are very helpful, great guys.

Can't fault them at all, very patient and calm.

It's the managements refusal to help any further.

If it was MY company I'd offer to fix the fault for free considering the down time and losses experienced.

I'm staggered that you would hire another truck rather than find a way to remove the grinder from yours :001_huh::confused1:

If all else had failed, I would have found a suitable tree, driven under it, used lowering gear to lift the grinder a little, driven the truck out, push trailer under, lower grinder, and got on with life.

In your situation I would find my own engineer to fix the machine and then make it my lives mission to tell all I could just what an appalling service you received from the supplier and try to cost them as mean sales as I possible could.

I bought a used grinder, sold as seen, but in working order, the belt was shot, I asked them to provide me with I new belt (£64) they refused, I will never buy from them again and will discourage users from using them whenever I can:sneaky2:

Same, won't deal with them, got a lightly used rg13 'demo' grinder who's clutch promptly disintegrated and they just shrugs shoulders with a tough it's a used machine what do you expect. Also had bad experiences renting orange chippers with little help from management.

Not happy I now have to deal with them for greenmech :thumbdown:

And mad it clear to greenmech what my feelings were!

Morning Skyhuck,

With no suitable trees (950kg grinder) and a team of 5 to get to work it was more sensible to rent than to risk dropping the machine during a hasty lift.

Have you seen the oaks here? All pollards!

Besides, we thought it may just be a quick fix and so a days truck rental.

This afternoon and Sunday I am scouring the local farms to ask if a loader can be 'borrowed' to lift the grinder onto our smaller plant trailer for transport.

Thursday before last our town received a late night visit from a roving gang of Irish travellers who relieved us of our tipping trailer.

Friday afternoon chipper flywheel bearing went again, a quick fix for us (under 3 hours) IF only the French side of TNT would actually deliver the part in time.

Monday, the grinder...

With a new born baby at home and extra duties there I've no appetite and am subsisting on smoothies with a my weight now at 59.4 this morning.

Fortunately I have 'The Team' behind me or I may well have cracked by now.
