Out of interest, why can't he say the company he is not happy with? Surley that's no different to someone suggesting say an insurance company or a Arb supplier and someone else saying they thought they were pants??

Because people often have a swayed version of the truth...not suggesting thats the case here, but we have no way of knowing. There are plenty of people around who would make up a load of lies just to badmouth a company online for a bit of revenge...is that the sort of site you want to be a part of?

Heres an example of a case that happened on arbtalk in the early days. Member logs in, starts a thread ranting about a supplier. I forget the exact details but it was relating to a pair of trousers that he had purchased, then sent back, and the company hadn't refunded him. Massive rant, followed by dozens of replies from other posters blindly joining in with the lench mob.

My phone rings a couple of hours later. The important bit of information the OP had with held in his post was the part about his account being 6 months in arrears to the tune of £2500

Arbtalk isn't here to police these matters at its own liability, hence the blanket ban on 'naming and shaming'. Unfortunately the genuine cases have to suffer due to the minority.

If I cant log in and read all the slagging of Husqvarna and Stihl toppers then I will have to resort to facebook, think on guys.

I think its just suppliers that are off limits, so no more crazy talk Ty!

Quite right, we are here to talk about machinery. Your personal dealings with a company are just that IMO.

I've even heard of people threatening to tell dealers they will badmouth them on Arbtalk if they don't get their way. Thats not the sort of reputation arbtalk wants or needs, and certainly no dealer should ever be held to ransome in such ways.

I thought that was the whole point of a forum mate Ty??

Thats the problem with dealers supported forums, but with out there support a lot of forums wouldn't survive. One reason I tend not to get cought up in threads involving dealers now as none of them like criticism but like you too say there product is the best and how great they are even when there not

Ftr I have bought part's from orange plant and had v good service , never bought a machine though.

Ty, get it fixed and get it working again and put it down as one of life's experience

It would seem that arbtalk has a responsibility to up keep, and this is part of the forums ethos that I think we can all respect. It appears to me that a blanket ban is the only fair way the forum can responsibly manage such cases.

What arbtalk also has are a LOT of members with a lot of buying power, and a lot of experience in customer relations. So would it be a possibility of starting some kind of impartial and, importantly, voluntary mediation page?

I doubt it would be viable, but could be of some benefit to suppliers and members without resorting to liable actions and legal proceedings. Just an idea

I can't see that working, or indeed any company being interested in their business being broadcast publicly. I know I wouldn't be!
