Macrocarpa milling - timber properties and uses

I'm slowly building up a supply of various lumps of macrocarpa to mill up (mostly large trunks around 30" in diameter). I have the alaskan 36" and mini mill.

Any ideas what this wood is good for so that I can mill to the appropriate dimensions? Or is it simply whatever I can find a use for e.g. I could do with some 6"x 2" beams for building sheds.

Your thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers

Liam

Everything except structural timber as it is very short grained......it never rots and it polishes to the most amazing smooth finish. Cladding, flooring, partition studwork, fence posts....you name it. Wonder timber.

Boat builders like it , I have taken lots of it to yards in the past . It is a very decay resistant timber and is dimensionally stable . Not many people look for it as it is not regularly available in quantities . Keep it in the round until you decide what to do with it , or what any customer wants .

I'll be involved in removal of a pair of near dead specimens in July: the stems are straight so what size is worth keeping for milling? I ask as hiab access is perfect.

The next hurdle to cross is finding a mill interested enough in a mere two stems to actually take them. Any hints as to how I persuade them?

If they're a reasonable size, you might find someone on here interested in taking them. Any approximate idea on dimensions?
