The original post shows the climber's rope has become stuck...the retrieval ball that is used to pull through the large ring and catch the smaller ring returning his anchoring device and rope safely back to earth,unfortunately has wrapped itself around the rope and stuck fast....

Haha, understand it now, clever system, now thinking would a more pear shaped ball 'sometimes' pull itself out of the half hitch before it tightened? Depends how rope lies on tree and where pressure is coming from!
