New Stihl online policy

God damn it. I was just about to go and order one of those toy Stihl chainsaws as well - does that count?

The new policy yet to be announced by Stihl will state that ANY machine with an exposed blade will NOT be allowed for sale on the net. So this is chainsaws, hedge cutters ect , even strimmers that are CAPABLE of taking a blade!!

 

 

 

Until this is published dealers are supposed to adhere to the previous policy. I have been notified of a few dealers flouting this, so I have been phoning that dealer posing as a customer, if I find out they are willing to despatch i have reported those dealers to Stihl. If they persist then they will have their dealership taken away from them.

 

 

 

Lets leave the online products to B&Q shall we?

all the guys that work with me and my self run stihl saws but there policy on posting saws and parts is pants I get on rely well with my local dealer but when it comes to buying new kit he wont budge to much on price du to the online policy so I have just got my self two new 550xp saws by online shopping at FR JONES

Yup, Husky and Honda recently. Hedgetrimmer, brush cutter and top handle. Stihl wasn't even considered because of its policy.

 

I could fly down to London and buy an over the counter 880 from Jonesie, and do it cheaper than buying from my local dealer. The missus might even get some perfume from the airport shop (although that might be stretching it a bit)

 

Husky 3120 is now on the cards.

One of the problems in business is that some "businessmen" want everything handing to them on a plate, they try to blame others for their own failings. If your business is not turning over enough, then work on improving that.

 

Trying to force people to buy from you by implementing a sales policy isn't going to make you a better businessman. Infact it shows you to be a complete arse.

 

I am slowly turning over to husqvarna for this very reason, I want to buy off whom I chose to buy off, not who Stihl want me to buy from.

 

If you can provide proof of qualifications then you should be able to buy a saw without a lecture from a dealer that has never even used a saw.

 

You sir need to work on your own business, not try to ruin others

 

I personally would like to think members on Arbtalk have better morals than you. You are not deserving

I can't imagine how much trade stihl must be loosing from this I've bought 3 huskys as the stihl was good for about 12 months only, that's £1,700 ish for just one person

I am still trying to determine if you are taking the piss?

i actually think online sales are a good thing,they help keep every one on their toes,it is a competitive market,we pay top money for all our kit, if you can maintain your own gear as you should,then by pass the middleman,

As an industry it is one of the strictest regulated with certification, testing, inspection, on site harassment,sorry meant spot checks by h+s.

Replacement kit is expensive, most operators probably run thousands if not hundreds of thousands of pounds of gear,so are we not entitled to buy where we like?

As a Stihl user I would think if Stihl want to get pissy about this issue it will hurt them over time,

Questions,

1. Are other manufacturers following suit

2.What is the EU consumer law in relation to this move?

3.My local dealer has online sales,he has known me for years, you are saying cannot purchase online to save time and diesel? you must be having a laugh.

4. Buying a saw off ebay will contravene this policy?
