I've got some well seasoned Poplar on the pile now along with some Birch and the Poplar smoulders and doesn't burn to ash leaving charcoal like lumps while the Birch disappears completely to a white ash. That is in a small Hunter multi fuel stove. It's usable but not great stuff.

Nothing wrong with pop i just dry it out and use it asap as it does go a bit weird if left seasoned in the shed for a year or two so i split it and let it season/use asap burns well like all wood if its dry and made of wood it will burn no use splitting hairs its just firewood mix it with the rest etc

Our fire tonight with poplar on. Found it at the back of the shed today. I've been using the shed for 7 years now and this was in the corner when I moved in. It was really difficult to split. The rings were about 2' across and knotty. It's kicking plenty of heat out. The wife will be stripping off soon:thumbup:
