  1. Thanks for the comments. Alycidon I think it would be a good idea to have a page for trade and certainly a stockists list. We do send them filled with logs strapped to pallets. A few have gone down to Derbyshire. We are charged for pallet deliveries up to a tonne so even completely full they are still under that weight. I know the ones in the picture are empty but it gives an idea. Agree with the metre spelling it is a little annoying. We are looking for more stockists. If anyone is interested please email or pm me.
  2. Thank you. We're not aiming at the cheap end of the market. Quality is most important for us. We've sold about 80 since we started in March 13.
  3. Our new website has just gone live. Needs a few corrections and more items will be added but its a good start. British Log Stores | Quality homes for your logs
  4. Here's another bespoke log store 9ft long. Thanks to Alycidon for the order. Delivered it down to Milton Keynes and helped him fit it in place. Customer is very happy and hopefully Alycidon will have another order from their neighbour. Thanks again!
  5. If you can prove that you completely rely on forestry for your business than you shouldn't need to pay any business rates. It's the same as agriculture.
  6. Another happy customer has just sent a picture of one of our log stores..........
  7. Built a new style log store today. Photographer is coming on Friday to take pictures ready for the new website. All log stores are delivered erected unless the customer asks for flat pack. We're looking for more trade customers up and down the country.
  8. 40 builders bags for sale in Arbtrader - Builders bags for sale ArbTrader Arborists Classifieds
  9. If the site you are using used to be a farm I think you should be ok. Do you buy your timber in from forestry? If so forestry and farming are classed the same so no planning or change of use required. We applied for a grant for our firewood company and needed to prove that we have permission or that it wasn't required. An email to our local council asking for advice sorted it straight away. As we buy in from forestry contractors it means we are reliant on forestry and so classed as such. Not sure if same applies if your taking in arb waste. I would just approach your local council and see what they suggest. At least it makes it look like you want to do the right thing.
  10. The website should have read British Log Stores .co.uk
  11. Thanks for your comments. We do change things from time to time and build a lot of bespoke log stores. Here are just a few. The one with the front on was for a customer with small logs, it's easier just to throw them in. Almost finished a log store with planed timber stained black with a cedar shingle roof. Our website My blog | Just another WordPress site will soon be underway!
  12. They've invested money to buy machinery which links it to the Farming and Forestry Improvement Scheme grant. It means that they can guarantee a good log supply to their own customers through our company.
  13. We are now supplying quite a few stove companies with log stores in our area. Hardly any of them wanted a full size one to display so we decided to build in miniature. Its about 3' tall so doesn't take up much room. Contact us for more information about stocking our products. [email protected]
  14. We have supplied Premier Stove Installations for nearly 2 years now. After a few meetings earlier in the year they have now invested in our company. This means that we have one of our areas largest stove companies behind us with a vision to keep growing. Lets see what this winter season brings? Still waiting for DEFRA though about the grant. It's been a long wait!
  15. Our fire tonight with poplar on. Found it at the back of the shed today. I've been using the shed for 7 years now and this was in the corner when I moved in. It was really difficult to split. The rings were about 2' across and knotty. It's kicking plenty of heat out. The wife will be stripping off soon:thumbup:
  16. It should be cubic metre. A meter is something you use to measure a quantity.
  17. Well, the last 4 m3 of hardwood logs went out this afternoon. Sold about 300m3 since September compared to 150m3 all 12 months previous. We've got some seasoned softwood but it's difficult to educate some people when they've been brainwashed. Anyway, if anyone happens to find 100m3 of seasoned hardwood logs at the back of the shed please let me know. :wink
  18. Thanks Harvey. We do build bespoke log stores it's just that this design sells well. We took the roof off the top one as the customer only has a narrow pathway, it's strapped inside the log store.
  19. Ok, I'm sure some of you got a bit fed up with me pushing my log stores a couple of months ago, but it's going so well now with quite a few stockists around the country. I've sold just over 40 and thats since September really as not much happened through summer. This is one of two going on display at a garden centre and the others are ready today for the pallet company to deliver to Northampton. Stockists now include - Premier Stove Installations - North Lincolnshire The Willows garden centre - Lincolnshire Branton Nurseries - South Yorkshire Torne Valley Country Stores - South Yorkshire & Derbyshire Stevenson Tree Services - Cambridgeshire Home Farm Stoves - Northamptonshire Osowarm - West Sussex Regards Mark
  20. We sell hardwood logs at 10" with 70 on a pallet for £2.50 ea. softwood at 8" with 85 on a pallet for £2 ea. we only sell nets wholesale. Shops double their money on them.
  21. We get 85 60x45 nets on a pallet. Logs are cut to 8". I think we use about 2 m3 to a pallet.
  22. Hi Alycidon Suprisingly I would say its 50/50 for lady customers. Thanks I'll call you tomorrow. Regards Mark
  23. Our new website has just gone live. Needs a few changes doing over the next couple of days but we love it. What do you think? - Welcome to The Isle of Axholme Firewood Company - Quality logs at sensible prices
  24. Almost 100 ton of logs gone since last week in August. Only did 80 ton previous 12 months. 1000 nets of kindling almost gone as well. I naively didn't expect to be this busy! Loving it! Oh, and sold 31 log stores...........
