Treehog gaffs

Hi all, just got my first set of spikes just a query as to sharpening them I have been looking into maintenance as for me they were a big investment.

The instructions stated that you should not sharpen the gaffs if they became blunt? Any particular reason why? Or will I be stuck with the fact that I will just have to buy replacement gaffs when they become dull?

Thanks in advance

I know what you mean about not having to jam them into the wood, the only spikes I used before these were very uncomfortable and hard work to get good grip, as soon as I got back with my new gear, had a quick play on a pole in the garden so comfy and effortless to use :) any reason why they say not to sharpen them in the booklet that came with them ?
