I'd say it'd still smart a tad landing, no matter how big your anchor was. Not really a reason for it not being accepted in tree work?

No. Personally I don't think there are any reasons that it shouldn't be accepted practice. But imo, we're a long way from it becoming anything like best practice

I really can't see how anyone could think DRT is double attachment, if they did whats was all the fuss about second attachment when cutting about.

Sounds like a case of Chinese whippers to me.

It really isn't. Having done SRT demo's at various shows the last few years, I've heard all sorts of arguments against it, some are as baffling as the one in the OP. Back when I started climbing SRTWP, I was employed at an AAAC. They wanted me to go by the book, which meant consulting the AA on their opinions of it.

Trust me, they're not chinese whispers. :001_smile:

Don't blame me if you cut your line and die though.

I got the rope wrench ! I stick with that but may give you a shout on that tommy.

Any time mate. Make sure you use a stiff tether with the wrench. Makes it run a lot smoother.

If you're using a SRT you can't use the other end of your rope to climb on and have a secondry anchor point with the same rope, not that many people use that method after collage. Maybe that's what's making people confused about the saftey of an SRT
