I've been full time employed now for the last 6 months. The reason why I decided to go back to employment was the usuall.... Regular money, paid holidays, working part of a team, also decided to do it out of respect for my wife as she works full time too.

Well I can tell you, its been terrible I'm more skint than I've been in years- I mean seriously skint Friday doesn't come soon enough then it's straight out of the bank on paying the bills. I'm knackered most of the time even doing 40 hours, Ive got a bad back and just generally feel depressed most of the time. So for you that are thinking about going back to employment think about it seriously as there are more perks being self employed.

Suppose..ive been self employed since i was 19, im 27 now, i dont think i could work for anyone again.

I was only employed for 9 months forestry worker and 2 6 months stints arb climber/supervisor, left the first two sacked from 3rd then 30 years self employed forestry contractor.

Now been employed supervisor/manager for 5 years, got fat and unfit, and don't use a fraction of my wages whereas whilst I made money self employed I was always spending it on toys.

Biggest financial relief was when mortgage was paid off, which I have my wife to thank for as I was content to rent.

Ah not so good friend.

Did you keep any of your kit from your self employed days? If so it's never to late to start up again. You'll be a lot more effective now. Go and talk to your old customers and see if they'd have you back.

The only plus point about employment is if you aren't getting on in the job your in, try and find a better one. I know it's not that easy but life's not.

Keep your chin up, tell depression to go 'France' it's self as it's little more than a time waster.

Life is for the pro active.....mind you only got one life.

Self employment isn't exactly a barrel of laughs either mind... Okay you may earn a bit more but I work 70 hours a week on average to earn just that wee bit more...

If your a grafter you might consider slowing up a little so you won't be so bodily tired. Usually employed people (IMHO) work about 1/2 - 3/4 pace of a self employed people. As their not getting paid to race about flat out. So take it a bit easier. It might at least give you a bit of time to think of a solid game plan and move forward.

Good luck and chin up mate.
