Spuds Porting and Tuning Thread

Not had any issues to date and some of mine have been out there a few years now.

 

I do thake care in making sure that certain constraints are not breeched when porting.

 

In reality, the bottom end of the saw is pretty over specified and will stand up to the extra power.

 

Why? Why bring me into this dirty thread.

 

Yes I did port out a 026 a while ago. And no it didn't work out too well, mainly due to me taking a little bit too much out the sides and catching the rings.

 

I did port an old Dolmar, and it did work and still is, only I didn't notice much in the way of any gain.

 

That's me on this thread and all I'm putting in, I don't see much point in porting and after hearing Dave's saws they are way too loud for me, I couldn't work with one all day even with defenders on.

 

As people know I don't like porting so that's me out.

Which Stihl models like being ported and which ones are just not worth while?

 

MS441 has a weird ring end running up the side of the exhaust port - not much you can do about it.

 

The strato design really limits the amount you can take off the inlet port on most of these saws,
