It does appear that the caravan club have been active and they have made quite big strides in abolishing the proposed trailer mot. Not set in stone but worth a read because they are probably the only body putting up a fight.

Covers trailers up to 3500kg.

You only have to buy a plant trailer off ebay to find out what shite there is being towed around britains roads. If people took more responsibility about there equipment there wouldn't be any need to force them to

And me although I'd be cursing it, doesn't sound unreasonable how many trailers have defective lights, brakes, bits missing. I'm no saint when it comes to towing but it might make me more saintly like!

I run multiple trailers for different purposes, it would cost me a fortune in testers fees each year for a test, but I'm still in favour of it. Some of the things you see on the roads are shocking.

I would go even further and introduce registration for trailers, it would give most chippers a little more security.
