I only use ARS saws. They are far tougher from what iv seen.

There also meant to be like silky at half the price

 

thanks dan will give these a try local in portsmouth silky getting blunt so try a diferent brand. go to hampshire garden and get one

I have found Cutting Edge saws very good. FR Jones sell them.

 

I know, I bought 2 about 18 months ago and they both snapped with in weeks!

 

Just get silky and have done with it.

Tried Stein, cutting edge and various other brands. The only saw that I think gets close to Silky for quality of blade/handle/scabbard durability is Samurai.

The scabbards are good for when sugoi ones brake ... That's about the only positive I can give on them I'm afraid.

stein loose their cutting edge a lot quicker than silkys, also lost all our silkys atm, so ms200t is far superior in every way as its also harder to loose if dropped.lol

I won one, the teeth were too big it was hard to start the cut with it, I now just use it as a spare (already had a silky natanoko)

Also found the stein to go blunt quite quickly, it didn't have a particularly sharp blade to begin with though. The only cheap one I've found to be worth buying are the Wilkinson sword ones, Pruning Saw and Holster Wilkinson Sword. My local dealer sells them me for £10

Thanks for the discussion and for bringing us up in convo (Trojan Handsaws that is!) We do appreciate feedback and are never looking to settle with our manufacturers design so always keep us posted how you get on and if you have any recommendations.

 

We added the Rollers way back in 2010 and designed the Phat Strop thanks to feedback so for 2014 we are pressing forward with some ideas we have had in the pipeline for both our scabbards and handle fittings.
