Sorry in the pub whilst I wrote that and had not realised I had sent it ... It was a complete waste of time and would of been a hell of a lot easier to swing back over and take my anchore point out with the 020 ... I learnt by my mistake ... Never again a very bad idea!

Agree with Steve totally... Saying that a silky pole saw can save a lot of time in the right situation but trying to hold a motorised pole pruner with one arm at full extension usually only results in a poor finish at a great deal of effort.

Saying that EVERY bit of dead on ANY tree can be reached by climbing is a pretty bold statement.

Easy reached though with the silky pole sawpruner, powered pole pruner is a nightmare in the tree ... If I'm honest I will take a silky hayatchi in the tree for most dead wooding.

I use both powered & silky pole saws when needed.

Joking aside, every tool has it's place - it's choosing the time & place to optimise it's use that is the hard part.

1st stage retrenchment pruning in veterans to save climbing out to the really small material? MEWP access and standard saw would be preferable though.
