Ebay troubles - a Saw I sold recently

Thanks again fellas.

I asked him for photos of the plug colour and piston anyway, but fuel/oil is my gut feeling too.

If I had any doubts about it, I'd have listed it as spares or repair, but it ran really well.

The talk of new carb swung me a bit too - sounded like clutching at straws a bit to me.

Worst case is ebay will side with him, refund him and then I'll chuck it back on ebay in bits and put it down to experience.

What's most annoying is it's the first time I've had any bother with any of the stuff I've sold on ebay, other than an odd non payer or a couple of small things going missing.

HI CHRIS tell him on his bike mate like steve said neat petrol mate thanks jon

the problem with ebay is that they always take the buyers side of the story so you may be in for a returned buggered saw and ebay will award the buyer a full refund its happened to me even though i stated no returns acepted etc and pick up only so the guy could try before he parted with his moneys but he just orginised his own post etc and on him recieving the item went into disput saying it was smashed i,e item not as discribed etc so i ended up with no money and a buggered item sent back busted by the postman i guess so if i sell on ebay thesedays its cash only no paypal and collection in person only

Ebay will ALWAYS side with the buyer. The process is almost entirely automated.

'No returns' is entirely worthless and only relates to people buying stuff and then wanting to change the size/colour/whatever, not faulty goods/badly described goods/

IMO this is absolutely on the money since there are thousands of complete tools on ebay who describe an item as having a fault (saw not idling for example), but fail to mention that the fuel tank has a gaping hole in it (for example).

Don't waste your time trying to argue your case with Ebay; it isn't possible to win.

I totally agree.

I got 'had' back in October when I sold a pair of cycling shoes that were too wide. The winning bidder paid well over the odds for them and I found out why: before long and in spite of all the evidence they claimed they never turned up and demanded a refund, case open etc. Ebay ruled in his favour and billled me for the refund. I flatly refuse to repay it, especially since I tracked the buyer down on facebook and there he was in the shoes. Ebay have closed my account after years of using them and 400 odd positive feedback. Look at the other guys feedback - a handful of similar issues.

Old saying - Feck 'em.

Chris,

Don't suppose the chaps user name had Dan in and he was from Norfolk by any chance?

I'm selling a 576 had this chap contact me for a buy it now price when it was in auction etc anyway told him a price agreed told him I wanted it done out of eBay to avoid fees etc said fine no problem but he wanted to pay through PayPal so he was guaranteed as he'd bought a 357 used it in 2 jobs and it had broke so was trying for his money back.

Needless to say my saws still here, I think if it runs when it departs your company it's at the buyers expense to repair especially after 2 jobs, could have done needless things to it even repaired his knack erred saw with good bits from yours!

This one went up to Scotland - he seemed a nice bloke, even stringing proper sentences together and everything unlike a lot of the messages that usually come through on ebay :001_rolleyes:

Will just have to see what happens.

5 years ago we were mad for ebay payed a large part of the mortgage off. Now leave it well alone bad news. Items now get sent to charity, car boot or left on shelf. Vehicles go in auto trader. Otherwise you are paying postage so they can rob you. If they ever get it sorted out there will be loads of stuff that has been stashed for years. I see they just had 4 days free listing just before christmas must be desperate.

My sister put her old Nintendo ds on ebay last year, lady bought it, gave to kid for Xmas, 1 month later kid drops it in bath and lady turns up at my sisters house demanding her money back!!! She stood her ground and refused but hasn't sold on there since

Some people have a nerve and no concept of right and wrong!

Good luck and let us know how it goes
