minimum tooth length

hi guys.

i just done a right number on my chain, i was cutting over the patio and caught the chain on the slab .

i had to file down alot off the teeth to remove the damage, so whats the minimum tooth length..

I keep sharpening until the cutters start to fall off when cutting wood . As the cutters get smaller the chain cuts faster so no point in chucking it away if it will still work for you . Got about three cutters missing on my 560 but it still cuts like a loony !

I go down until each tooth becomes a triangle. Not pushed it till the teeth start falling off

ahh good, i got around 4.22mm left.

 

i must get something so i do not have to cut on the ground...

There should be a line on the top of the tooth. Thats the req minimum length if the tooth bud

if youve taken a lot off the teeth then you may need to take the rakers down as well.

Sharpen until they are to an absolute minimum little triangle keep those rakers down every now and then and you'll get max sawing miles out of your chain ;-)
