I was treating a fence with timbercare and the buggers where following along behind stripping the stain and leaving trail lines abit like slug trails all across the fence panels. Got stung chipping some willow a while back.Hand came up like micky mouses glove.Cut down a big dead oak in some grounds by a lake and they were everywhere.Think they must like the scent of cut wood.No nest in the tree but they were all over it.No other issues this year and they should be dead soon.

Had the same thing a year or so ago agony could not sleep at night. Went to docs and found I am becomming alergic to them. The more you get stung the worse it will get. If you take an old fashioned piriton tablet within minutes you should not react anywhere near as bad ( dont follow my advice without talking to your doc ) so I now carry piriton tabs if it progresses you may need a pen to stab your self with in case it goes to anathalaptic shock ( sorry for spelling ) either that or I am a wus and just need to man up

I was finishing off an old conifer stump at the bottom of the garden earlier in Autumn and got stung twice on the belly as they got in my T shirt. I found the nest in the roots of the tree and put the spade through it then buried them and ran off. My missus said I looked like I was fighting the invisible man. I hate them and have a phobia about them.
