In my opinion yes, it's a more all round saw, big enough to fell with, balanced enough to send with and bearable to use up a tree to chog down with.

Hope to get to pick my new 1 up next week, just wish they did it with heated handles!

+1 the 390/385 is a nicely balanced saw, and you can get a heated handle version, or at least the parts for one, which is a handle, switch, flywheel and generator

Jonsered cs2171, which is a 372xp only the JRed is less likely to have bits fall off. They still sell the 2171 with heated handles and carb.

Have run a 30" bar on the 2171 when rigging down a redwood. Usually run a 20" bar on it, as all 372xp users know, it's a great workhorse, proper no nonsense 70cc chainsaw.

I had been using my MS440 for years as my main ground saw, and it was brilliant, running 18".

I've had to retire it, at least until it goes to a saw doctor, it's had 8 years of hard use.

For the last couple of months I've been running a 560xpg, again on an 18" and I love it. Fast in the cut, lighter to throw about and the heated handles are a joy!

A lot depends on the average size timber you work with I suppose.

XP 560. Although it's a love hate relationship. Love it when it works, hate it when it's broke, but I'm hoping that the dealer has got rid of some of the teething problems that earlier models had. This saw with a 15" bar on is a legend.

We put a 20" on the 395 when the 372 played up this summer I would not want to use it for more than 10 minutes let alone a day it's not really a ergonomic lightweight snedding and limbing saw.

The 390 is a bit better in weight but is noticeably less powerful.

It's all down to what you are actually going to use the saw for?
