Finally got round to buying a 540 last week. Ruddy love it already! Changed up my chain for a 91vxl, as suggested, and it's a beaut!

 

Anyone know of a good spares website for them, for when I inevitably break something on it? I can't seem to find anywhere that is supplying parts other than my local dealer.

 

Also I was wondering if anyone has tried the flip up caps off the new 560 for fit?

I've ran mine since august... Abused it hard and it seems to runbetter every day the more its ran in .... Unlike the 338 I got two years ago with the up rated engine that I brought to replace the 200ts because I was sick of there carb failures , 338's plastics broke a lot but the 540 seems strong as hell so far and extremely powerful.

I had use of one while my 200t was being repaired. impressed. balance is great. only niggles are I sometimes find the off switch difficult and I can't do the old one handed chain brake flick on as the brake lever is missing the top corner where my thumb would connect. but hey they proberly did that on purpose.

The supposedly dodgy one has a grey bit in the in the little square bit and the new one is all black . Got mine a few weeks ago but the grey one never failed . Still got in a draw ...

 

It's the other way around.

 

The improved loop should have a grey plastic part in the clamp.

 

Although you did have me doubting myself so I checked out the husky warranty letter.

 

Mr B is right about the flip caps, the flip caps that fit the 540 are the small type as supplied on the oil tank of the new 550's

So has any ones tech lite bar worn off the writing yet? Mines starting to husky bars are normally poo but this one seems good

 

Mines loong gone... Might have abit of "H" left but that's about it,

any one else cracked the plastics yet is what I want to know!

How can I tell tell difference between the old and the new? I don't know which one I've got.

On the new one the weld has fused the wire completely together.

On some of the old ones that weld only partially fused the wire together.
