You have no idea why this went the way it was, the resentment in you will obviously pick the most unjust way against you.

Maybe she fell I'll, maybe her grand daughter came to visit and brought her bored tree surgeon boy friend, who thought " sweet ill fell the trees rather than be bored out my head indoors "

Learn from it and move on.

I am in two minds, the issue is that I was asked to quote for some tree work in a conservation area. I quoted and the customer accepted the quote I applied to the council to do the work while this was going through she decided not to go ahead with the work as she was moving so cancelled.

I get back from a weekend away and the trees are gone.

So should I just bill her for professional services (applying to the council) or just let it be.

And how much should it be if I do charge.:blushing:

I would be interested in your thoughts

Regards

The first thing you need to establish is that the works were done in the back of your notification and that another contractor didn't make their own

Then you need to decide what you will do if they don't pay, if you don't have a written contract you may have problems recovering any costs.

There could be many reasons why she changed her mind and you will never know unless you go knocking on the door which is very unprofessional at best. All I would say if you feel that you do need to do something just send invoice for a fair amount that you think would justify your time etc. if not just put it down as another lesson learnt and as already said walk away. It's your call.

Had this happen to me, bloke excepted quote so I put in paperwork but he canceled before it was passed as he felt he could do the works himself, crown reducing mature sycamores????

So I called the council and withdrew my notifications and warned them of his intent, few weeks later drove past and trees had been half topped complete with rips and stubs

Found out later tree officer had threatened him with court for cutting without permission And not to any type of standed and mad him plant more trees in his large garden and will be keeping a close eye On him.

Glad I withdrew it incase t o thought I'd done the work/damage.
