Its expensive by market prices. Think the last time I bought some cherry it was about £35 maybe £40 per cubic foot. By my reckoning those pieces would work out at near £100 per cubic foot. Not doubting the fact that is hard work and not much profit but personally think the OP has a point but don't blame the seller for getting top whack for their wood.

Im sure the winning bidder was thrilled. I however thought it was expensive.

 

You are right that from within the walls of the wood community they do look a bit more than you would want to pay. But if you've got no tools or interest then buying for a small premium is a winner.

How would I know what his profit margin is unless I know what he paid for the timber in the first place?

 

I just thought £72 was an expensive price for what he was selling.

 

He was not charging £72 . Thats what someone was willing to pay . Its called an auction ...

I know ive posted similar links before but this to me was a ridiculous price.

Depends on whether you are buying or selling. If you are in the market for some does not hurt to stir the market up a bit someone may try and do you a favour You never know :biggrin:
