Council owned lime tree, seen a local firm working near them a few months back.

Limb is very tip heavy.

Where does my friend stand for getting his motor sorted?

I think that as the branch is alive there is little or no chance of come back. Further, if the trees were worked on a few months ago it proves that the council are managing the trees and fulfilling their duty of care. The only course of come back might be if you can prove that the work carried out was directly responsible for the branch falling off, had been speced wrongly or the spec not carried out correctly.

I would have thought a difficult claim to make. If, on the other hand, the branch had been dead, or trees had not been maintained for years..........

That'll be an extremely expensive repair if the A pillar's strength is deemed to have been compromised - this may sound daft but I wouldn't be surprised if the car is written off...

Exactly, hence my friends concern....

Of all parking spaces! This one!!!!

Looks like the car was parked in a super market car park? Not sure how things work these days but I had a new xr2 years ago. It got bumped into in a car park, there was CCTV footage of the vehicle that hit it. Never did get paid out.
