Couple of pics of a coat hook I was commisioned to make. Oak burr around 1150mm long and six wrought hooks. Think I undersold it though. What do you guys think its worth. Oak is 2" thick.

My missus has just seen that; thank God it was already sold!

She says that in Surrey that would fetch £150 but it would need the right marketing, i.e. shop sold in a display. Same applies to other areas of course.

I think £80 is a fair enough price, you should give them the option for handmade hooks tho. I find galleries robbing sods as the put at least 200% on price and want a percentage after for displaying it.

I've sold a mirror recently for £175 and that was through facebook :001_smile:, I also find sales up and down at the moment. My prices do vary a bit depending on cost of timber, so if it costs £20 more I adjust accordingly.

My misses is hassling me to set Facebook page up, not really into it but know I should. My misses has a soap company so when we do shows/markets we do em together to save a little cash.

I would say 40% of my work is through my facebook page and the rest is through here or word of mouth as I can update quicker on here and facebook than my website. Even thinking about giving my website a miss for a year to see.

Looking at it I'd have thought £80-100 is fair. I'd have thought up to a fiver per hook, 20 ish for the wood and then a couple hours standing, oiling and fitting hooks.

I'd imagine that, especially with matching key hooks, pan hangers, orchid/flower hanging brackets, light switch surrounds etc would sell for good money if you got samples to a posh interior designer or ideal home show type of thing. A mate of mine sells handmade/bespoke house names and numbers in clay with enamel at the ideal home show, around 50-100 quid, and mostly done from existing templates!

Matching mirrors, brolly stand, shoe racks even a wee shelf for a broadband router/phone(as I know a few people with them in there hallways). All with some matching ironmongory features might be ideas for you guys.
