If someone is willing to offer sound advice, or give interesting opinions then as long as I can make sense of it then what's the problem?

Damn it.. that means, by definition, people are welcome to express views on bad spelling and grammar.

I therefore think I disagree with you but you could be right (and me wrong!) as w're talking opinions and not facts.

Hmmmmmm - whats it all about anyway?

Confused of Worthing.

Well that depends how badly the want a response.

Easy to read posts will get more attention.

If you make it hard for people to read they will be less likely to engage in a response.

For me, this is the bottom line. The real issue isn't spelling or grammar it's clarity of communication. Of course if you're just talking to a select group of people who understand you then perhaps wider clarity isn't necessary...

Spelling and grammar are plastic and always will be.

My own spelling can be pretty atrocious at times, but what i find infuriating is the regularity with which the moderators have to change the spelling on thread titles.

This lazyness actually does make the site look bad, in my opinion

I only correct the interesting thread titles (or the titles of interesting threads) and I only do it so that the search function stands a glimmer of hope of finding the things that are searched for!

Surely as long as the message gets across the spelling and punctuation don't matter?

Yes it matters, the fact is if you put a post up littered with mistakes you give the impression of being a bit...you know, thick.

We can all get stuff wrong and it's not clever to point out errors (unless they deserve it! And, I confess I may have done it in the past)

But it does matter.

Yes but dyslexia shouldn't be used as an excuse.

No, it's a reason. Not an excuse.

Acceptance of phonetic spelling by colleges when assessing written work has to be one of the biggest flaws ever in our education system. It lets young men and women out into the real world with atrocious writing skills.

Anyone who attempts to get their point across without using textspeak is ok in my book. If the moderators are tidying up thread titles then that is a great thing.

Bad spellers aren't thick either. They've just missed out somewhere along their educational road.

Guide and educate. Don't take the p1ss.
