cheers ian, i liked your sign too by the way, very impressed as i dont think i could do that without a cnc...

 

 

you should use this cedar to do your next one and use it as an outdor sign it will last for decades...

Harvey go down to your local timber merchant, most of them have firewood bins,and pick a few different pieces out, they only charge a few quid for a bag full,you will soon get to know what wood you prefer for each project without it costing much.

Excellent work there Steve - well done!! I've been thinking recently about making some chairs / stools from tree branches, but keeping a kind of 'rustic' look. Have you got any hints / tips for me?? (i.e how to join pieces together but minimisin screws or nails where possible)

Sorry this close up should have been in last post !! The white peg almost centre of pic is just a cap over the screw ( I told some one it was a seals tooth )... or you could use oak dowel pins to join them , I am planning on doing more "rustic / driftwood stuff soon , in fact I have started making a driftwood lamp but am having problems drilling a 4 foot long hole !!!
