This was 3 years ago in Majorca. I peeled but went out with dad for a 20 mile walk along the coast. I didn't realize how bad it was until i got in the shower. I had my top off today and it was burning after 30 mins. It was a partial thickness burn and had a very brief slot on Sun, sea A and E.

Ya big wooses!

Never been burned in Scotland, never been burned as an adult (if memory serves). I've felt the sun the last few days (I'm down near Northampton presently), but many hours of exposure with no sun cream have resulted in me going ever so slightly browner. I have some sort of freakish sun tolerance gene as my dad is ginger and doesn't really burn.

The red bit is out off date stuff the mrs. put on me the still pasty white is factor 50, proof enough to me suncream works. Would hate to see how much pain some people on that beach are in thismorning, bright red by 1 pm and still out in it. big j, my little lass is a redhead and has such pail skin she burns in min's and get smothered in cream all the time.

Wife is campaigning the school to have a better sun policy for the younger children as staff won't reapply cream for them, how can they expect a 5 year old to do it propperly without help?

Funnily enough , many years ago when visiting my grandparents in Darlington, we spent the day at the beach at Saltburn. Out all day in just a pair of trunks I burned so badly that the skin on my back came off in one piece. It was a couple of weeks before I could even put a sheet on the bed at night as I lay on my tummy to sleep. My mum should have known better as she was a nurse and I have ginger hair. 45 years ago sunburn cream was very expensive and could only be bought at a chemist. Nowadays I use factor 50 and slap it on several times a day if I am out and about. I am also easy to spot on a beach as I am the only one wearing a wide brimmed hat, a long sleeved shirt and long trousers. You will also never see me on a beach in Spain either!
