However you ended up doing that tree people will always say they might have done it differently, that's what a forums for, discussion, tips and others experience. Great opportunity to learn a lot from one tree. Bit jealous, would have enjoyed that one myself.

 

As others have said, a monolith would have been good but at the end of the day we are here to serve the customer and advise on what might be good to do. Their call.

Surely its up to Tommy how he takes a tree down, sure some of us would of felled it, some might leave it as a monolith but at the end of the day its up to Tommy. Nice job for ya mate and nice weather too..

If the objective was to get the tree on the ground, learn and improve your skills and speed you operate at whilst having a good climbing experience I'd say you've achieved it no probs.

 

Just a quick comment, if the integrity of the barrel is ever in question think about strapping/chaining it whether a straight fell or climbing. Man nothing worse than working with hazards that can be mitigated.
