if you use it for loading at differant job,s hire reward etc i would stick with white fuel only .Things would be very differant if you was carrying a fixed load say cherry picker /crane/ some road sweepers or council gritter as in vehicle and only use not hire reward etc or you just say crossing from field to field over public highway i think you can get a cert for that but only within a certain radious of your base etc like a farmer so to speak its also linked to its taxation class too" agri/plg/goods etc etc i,ve seen a company working on a building site called john rouse with a tractor trailer fined £500 for having red fuel in as it was taxed for the road and was loaded with drainage pipes on hire to another contractor called costain so it was hire reward etc

ag reg gives you mot exemption free tax and easier driving licence wise, but run on white saves a whole load of trouble, the main thing they're worried about is revenue loss!!

 

The main thing HMCE is worried about is revenue loss.

 

Other authorities have their own mandates and agendas. VOSA kicked my arse for running a tractor and trailer to shift round timber. Had to explain myself to the traffic commissioner to save my "O" licence.

I have a full c+e licence so I have never thought about it that much also the other guys who drive it have a c licence so for us that's covered. As for the comment about if you don't run it on red use a transit complete rot as a transit gets stuck in a puddle you Only have to have your tools men and stop at McDonald's for breakfast and your over weight lol. I may use a smaller truck to back up the mog but that's it and I doubt it would ever be a transit. Going back to fuel the amount of extra the white costs me is also covered by less trips back to the yard for example if I use a transit for the job I did today I would have done 5 trips to the yard but with the mog it was only 2 so a saving there and it means a grounds person is on site cutting chipping etc... (Being paid for what he does) rather than driving!

Bottom line is the 1250makes money, we back it up with a transit which we rarely use these days. The mog chips faster, carries more and can go anywhere. That more than makes up for single digit MPG and slightly higher repair bills. In fact it's more reliable than the 61 reg transit! In fact the boss loves it so much he bought a U1300 with a 6 tonne HIAB and 10 tonne high speed trailer to save time ringing up big stems! Mogs = efficiency in our game. You just need the right type of work. The one advantage of the transit is you can actually hear the radio.
